SHAME ON YOU MANLY COUNCIL. HOW MUCH DID THIS COST YOUR RATE-PAYERS YOU FOOLS (August 3 2007)

For over 100 years, kids and dads have been hurling themselves off Jump Rock. A 5 metre jump into deep water onto a sandy bottom. No chance of getting hurt. In the last 10 years, only 2 people have beeen killed. An older bloke had a heart attack on his second jump and a youth was killed jumping off at 2am one morning.

Now the council have taken away a Manly icon by fencing off Jump Rock.. Jump Rock is not dangerous. Thousands of kids jump off every week, so why spoil the fun. VisitManly has received hundreds of emails supporting keeping Jump Rock for the kids..A simple sign saying “Jump at your own risk and watch out for the razor sharp oyster shells when getting out of the water” would suffice.

Jump Rock is officially out of bounds, yet it is a safe cliff jump. High up but with a deep entry and a sandy bottom. Look at the picture.The council should be ashamed for creating such an eyesore in such a beautiful location.
