Shelly Beach is a short walk from the centre of Manly along a beautiful walkway with spectacular views. Shelly Beach is one of the few on the east coast that faces North. It is protected from the surf and is and ideal safe spot to take the kids.. The area around the beach is a protected marine reserve so no fishing is allowed. Scuba diving a very popular here and a number of schools operate from the beach. Snorkelling is very popular as the area has a large variety of fish species. The restaurant below is the called the Bower. There is a car park above the beach charging by the hour so bring your coins. Facilities include free gas BBQ’s, showers and toilets. Next to the restaurant there is a kiosk selling meals, beer and ice cream.

If you climb around the rocks you can see the Bower surf break. In big surf, this is one of the last breaks to close out. It can produce perfect right handers when the conditions are right.

Walk up the hill at the back of the beach for great clifftop views. There is a short bushwalk around the headland with seats to enjoy the views up the coast.
